Fashion Against Violence - Breaking the Barriers - March in Flint MI May 31, 2012 4:00pm

So...I had the opportunity to interview a very powerful women of fashion in Flint, MI, Kala Wilburn. She is the owner of a line of custom handmade handbags and apparel, Fannie Lucille - I'm a huge fan!

Last year, October 31, 2011, Kala lost her brother to an act of violence. This inspired her to form a movement, Fashion Against Violence. This week, Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 4:00 pm, Fashion Against Violence, WOW Outreach and Community Action will partner with other businesses and organizations in the Flint Community and march together in memory of lost loved ones in an event called Breaking the Barriers.The march will being at Flint City Hall and end at Atwood Stadium where the Urban Peace Rally  will be held immediately following the march at 6:00pm. Isn't this just so amazing?! Kala, I love what you are doing for your cause, for the city, for everyone! Keep up the excellent work.

Pool party: To swim or not to swim

Summertime means fun, sun and my favorite, POOL PARTIES!!! Despite how much I enjoy them, I always go back and forth, am I getting in the pool....or....NOT LOL! I mostly just go because I fell in love with the swimsuit and I wanted to wear my awesome cover-up that went so perfectly, and I just had to hear the jingling sound from my accessories....you know what I mean...right? So, like Drake said, I am dropping 10lbs preparing for summer, getting ready for beach season and pool parties with friends and family. Of course this includes a conquest for a few cute suits...here's what I found let me know what you think!

Dress - When I saw this I fell in love. I also bought a skinny red belt to wear with it. I am going to pair this with red pumps and if it gets chilly a teal blazer!

So next, I found the mint green jeans first, fell in love and then I had to find the perfect shirt to go with it. Found this fun fuchsia top and will pair with a pair of gunmetal/gold pumps that I got at Aldo a while back. I also have a pair of yellow pumps that will look fab with this too!

Fashionistas in the Workplace!

Since I have been working so much lately, I decided to break and talk about how to style your work wardrobe! I am so in love with bold prints and color blocking right now that I wanted to make sure I get to have a little fun this season in my professional life as well!

If you are just getting into prints, try pairing a bold belt with a traditional silk blouse and your favorite black pants. You can also style the same outfit with an awesome pair of animal print shoes - heels or flats! Whatever your choice, have fun, because you will be stepping to work in style!

Full time fashionistas can jump head first! Try a solid blouse tucked into a high contrast striped pencil skirt paired with pumps that have an ankle strap - I am smiling just thinking of that one! Or you can try your favorite solid sheath dress with a polka dot belt and bold pumps.

Smokin hot, Hot Pants - new WINTER look

So.....I took a period of time off from the blogosphere to mourn the loss of my grandmother. I am thankful for her life and the almost 30 years I shared with her. I am back now and wow, have I got the perfect find for you! I have always been one to wear whatever I want in whatever season. I am sure you can understand where I am coming from if you love fashion like I do. I mean, I wear winter white, shorts in the winter and knee high boots in the summer if the look warrants it. So when I saw these new gold sequin mini shorts, I instantly fell in love! I can just see myself right now stompin through the snow with my sequin shorts on! And that billowy black blouse is to die for! Yeah...I'm ordering these lol!
